Berkeley Observer writes
You are oh-so-right on the money when you speak of BCR's carefully cultivated martyr complex. I don't know his name, but whatever BCR member was charged with warming the crowd in D'Souza's absence (he was late) was just jaw-droppingly shameless in his attempts at crowd-baiting. One got the sense that they really, /really really/ came looking for a (verbal) fight Tuesday night. Typical questions, all posed in mock sincerity: "Who here doesn't like Bush?" "Who here doesn't like the California Patriot?" "What do you think of Republicans?" etc. The reason is obvious and you've already pointed it out; look at all the fawning praise they receive from the Chancellor/Daily Cal/national media whenever they're victimized. Luckily, virtually none the the anti-D'Souza contingent bit. But witnessing BCR's duplicitous, manipulative side vis a vis Tuesday's little pre-show left a decidedly bitter taste in my mouth nevertheless. Dispensing with purported scruples so that you can arrogate yourself to the moral highground in the resulting fight -- it doesn't get much more cynical than that.Email This Post! |
