The Daily Planet, (Motto: printing libelous op-eds and boring neighborhood planning articles since 1982,) has a good article from a peace activist caught in the middle of the Israeli/Palestinian war just as the conflict truly began. The guy is completely nuts to be hanging around in that particular land of death, but he appears like a nice guy. And he's there for the right reasons:
Lipton was encouraged by most of what he saw at the camp. Although some residents had kalishnikov rifles and expressed rigid opinions, the bulk of the Palestinians he spoke to seemed more interested in ultimately achieving a middle class lifestyle than in seeking revenge against the Israelis. “They didn’t show a lot of rancor towards the Israelis. They just wanted to run their own lives,” said Lipton. Those are the Palestinians I want to support. Why don't we ever hear from them? Then we're back in Berkeley, the town that proves that Democracy is just another word for 'Drench yourself in blood and lock yourself to something and you'll get what you want.' I should do the same asking for Krispy Kremes at my front door every morning.Email This Post! |
