**SQUELCH! Party Throws Out Senate Candidate Christine Lee**
Press Release: The SQUELCH! Party has decided to pursue all available means to formally disaffiliate and disassociate SQUELCH! Senate Candidate Christine Lee and current Student Action Executive Vice President from the party. This action was taken after campaigning by her that was viewed as clearly being in violation of the bylaws. Because SQUELCH! has no interest in filing charges against her (or any other candidate) I will not provide enough details here for anyone to attempt to bring charges, but suffice it to say, she was offering an endorsement that used the weight and authority of the office of the Executive Vice President, in violation of Title 4 of the bylaws. Whether it is vibrator races on Sproul or a reenactment of the Civil War on Memorial Glade, the primary concern of the SQUELCH! Party is to make sure not a single bylaw is broken. Apparently obvious violations of the bylaws are merely figments of your imagination. SQUELCH! believes firmly and unequivocably in the rule of law and respect for the institutions that allows the ASUC to function. We believe that student government should not be taken lightly, that the opportunity to serve comes with immense responsibility, and that failing to show the proper adherence to the rule of law is a fundamental insult to the ideals of student autonomy that we cherish. SQUELCH! is proud to run a campaign free of even a single violation of the bylaws, and it is with great regret I realize that Christine Lee does not strive to meet our high standards. SQUELCH! wishes her the best of luck, and maybe next year she will operate at a high enough caliber to associate herself with the SQUELCH! Party.Email This Post! |
