Chinese New Year, which is naturally a big deal at Berkeley. This is the Year of the Horse.

Someday I'll write a long essay on ethnic organizations at Berkeley. They're entirely harmless in the sense that all they do is serve as a kind of Singles' Bar. But the rough relationship between activist-ethnic types and meet-women-ethnic types of groups is interesting.

I'll also write an essay on Asian-American culture, which is an amazing blend of every single type of culture available in the US. The way the composite resembles little of its components is waiting for a good writeup. Although it's probably already been done.
