A Prototype of the first Bill the Squelch! Party will be submitting to the ASUC Senate:

A Bill

In Support of Making Trees Cooler

Authored by: David Duman and Kevin Deenihan
Sponsored by: Senator XXXXXX XXXXXXX

Whereas, Berkeley's trees have fallen prey to the disease known as Sudden Oak Death.

Whereas, The treatment for this disease involves wrapping trees in aluminum and warning students not to touch them, making the trees feel like lepers or dorks.

Whereas, Many students are unaware of the ravages of this disease, unless they happen to read the Daily Cal once every semester or so.

Whereas, Much more should be done to improve Tree/Student relations, and improve awareness of the plight of Trees

Therefore, be it resolved that the ASUC Senate sponsor the 'Heuristic Squelch Tree Naming Initiative.'

Be it further resolved that the purpose of this Initiative will be to allow students to name their favorite trees on campus. A polaroid of the student standing next to their tree, along with a formal certificate of naming.

Be it further resolved that the two coolest, tallest trees on campus be named 'Kevin Deenihan Jr,' and 'David Duman Jr.'

Be it further resolved that the ASUC Senate allocate $150 from the Senate Contingency Fund to this Initiative.
