I'm looking forward to seeing the terms of this initiative.
The most important part-- to my mind-- will be if the Initiative tries to preserve voting rights for Grad Students in both the ASUC and the Graduate Assembly. I'm assuming right now that Independence means just that.. but I wouldn't be surprised at all if the GA tries to keep voting rights. It's not like the current Executives have ever gone with the less brash policy. For me, and most undergrads will probably agree, there is no way I'll vote for an initiative that gives Graduate Students two votes to my one. To do so would be to make Grad Students a privileged group, with overall funding far exceeding that of normal students, and double the representation. Otherwise, chances are I'll vote for GA Independence. Email This Post! |
